Registration is now open for the 8th Annual Finish for a Guinness 5K Road Race. If you’re an Irishman like me, and even if you are not, what is better than a Guinness after a road race? The race will take place on Sunday, September 4th in Warren, Rhode Island and will be one race you will not want to miss!

The road race is being held to raise awareness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In the winter of 2008 Christopher Stone was diagnosed with ALS at the young age of thirty-four. As a result, the Christopher Stone Fund was established to help support the Stone family as they went through this challenging time. Sadly, Chris lost his fight in the summer of 2009, less than a year after being diagnosed. However, the Christopher Stone Fund continues to actively raise funds for local ALS chapters and families as well as other charitable causes.

With a cash prize of $150 on the line for the top male and female finisher, there is sure to be a nice lineup of great runners toeing the starting line on September 4th. Age awards will also be presented after the race.

The post race event will take place at Old Warren Marina located at the race finish along the waterfront. At the post race event awards will be given to the winners and runners will be able to get free Guinness, Blount’s Clam Chowda, Fish Tacos, review race results, enjoy some food and a DJ playing some tunes!

Be sure to register for the 8th Annual Finish for A Guinness by clicking here. Come out and support this great cause and have a great race!
