For several years, Mrs. Running Griffin and I have participated in the Run for Jess 5K in East Bridgewater on Labor Day weekend. This year, the race is going virtual due to COVID and we hope you will consider joining us for this virtual race raising funds for important causes.

The Jessica C. Thurston Memorial Foundation was founded in memory of Jessica Thurston who passed away from breast cancer at a young age.

With Jess in mind, the JCTMF strives to make a difference in the battle with breast cancer in hopes that one day there will be a cure!  Since the fund was established, in 2014, they have been able to make a yearly gift to Massachusetts General Hospital to directly support breast cancer research.  In addition, they also give out an annual high school scholarship and provide assistance to the local community throughout the year.  The foundation plans to keep their commitments this year and increase charitable giving to the Bridgewater area communities to those who have been directly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The virtual Run for Jess 5K is completely free but race organizers are asking for a donation if you are able to make one. If you donate $20 you will be eligible for a race tee-shirt if you sign up soon!

Join me for the virtual edition of the Dan Cavanagh Memorial Running Over MSA 5K in support of The Multiple System Atrophy Coalition! As many of you know, my father is currently battling MSA and here’s a great opportunity to join a virtual 5K in support of a great cause!

100% of all race proceeds will go directly to The MSA Coalition and the race that takes place in Chatsworth, Illinois is featuring a virtual 5K this year that affords runners across the country with the opportunity to join in the cause and tackle a 5K course of their own. Virtual runners will be shipped a race tee-shirt and will be able to submit their times and photos on the race’s social media accounts.

For information about the race, please be sure to visit the website by clicking here and join me in registering for this race. You’ll see details about the Virtual 5K on the left hand side at the bottom.

Please also be sure to “Like” the race page on Facebook by clicking here.
